different riding boots?

What is the difference between different English riding boots? I want the shorter ones as I already have tall boots but there are so many name; Jodpurs, paddock boots, Dansko. What do these all mean?
If it makes any difference I will be using them for jumping and huntseat.

Tall boots- wear breeches and knee high socks under. Some people only use these for shows, but I use mine everyday. There are different types, dress boots can be used in dressage and jumpers. Hunters wear Field boots. Jumpers can also wear them. Field boots have laces, dress boots do not.

Paddock Boots- I think these are the boots you are talking about that you want. they are short, and come just above the ankle. You can’t, well shouldn’t wear them in a show with chaps and jeans. If you show in short stirrup or the pony divisions, etc. you should wear garters and jodphurs. Jodphurs are pants( not boots)and go over the boot and have an elastic thing on the end.

Dansko is a brand of shoe. Like Ariat, they make a variety of shoes. The most popular are their clogs. They are great barn shoes, and are also made for lots of walking ( though my feet will still ache).

does anyone know where i can buy decent tall boots online for men? and riding pants? (english)?

i am starting the show season this year and i need clothes but don’t know where i can get them cheap and not too expensive.

There is a tough competition between different online stores to sell boots & riding clothes you are looking for. I would recommend you to go for one which is cheapest & best !

You may look sites I given below to get more details for the same.

what is the largest size heel you can have on a western riding boot?

For Christmas my mom wants me to send her a link of things that I want and I found the boot, but it has a 2 inch heel and I was wondering if that was just dress western boots or if I am still able to ride in them.
here is the link
http://www.cavenders.com/product.asp?cat=2&dept_id=2510&pf_id=CBA1928

Thanks in advance!

You COULD ride in them but they are dress boots. It would probably be uncomfortable and the leather doesn’t look like it would wear well.

I have the Ariat Challenge II boots, and they’re amazing. They broke in after only 2 times riding in them, and they’re incredibly comfy. And the zipper’s easy to do up and doesn’t fall down when I haven’t done it up all the way.

How do I "break in" my new, leather field boots?

I just bought a new pair of Valentini Leather Semi-Custom field boots. How do I break them in?? Do I ride in them? Do I just walk around in them around the house?? Thanks for answering.
First Answer- Do you really soak them in water?? I’ve heard that ruins the leather….

Water is good for leather in small amounts, so I would not recommend soaking them.

Other then that unfortunately all you can really do is ride and walk in them… I wore my everywhere I went and rode as much as I could in them and they broke in pretty fast. It will be a bit of a painful process, but it comes with the territory. Sorry =( If you keep with it, it gets easier everyday.

Also, you can use Fiebings Neatsfoot Oil Compound like you would on a bridle or saddle: Put a bunch on, let it sit for a minute or two, wipe it off with a rag. This will make the leather more supple and soft which will make it easier to brake them in. Do that once or twice and after that if you want, you can just clean them with saddle soap…

Handling them, bending them like you would when you ride, will also help in making them more soft.
Good luck!

Equestrian Custom Tall Boots?

So I’ve been riding for quite a while, and I compete at a very high level. I have competed at the Royal Winter Fair. So My trainer and I agreed that it’s time to get new boots because my tall boots are too big around the calf so they are constantly falling down to my ankles. But the only problem is my mom is not too interested in paying a ridiculous amount of money. Does anyone know of any ideas to convince my mom to buy me new tall boots, or of a cheap place to get custom boots.
PS:
The reason I need custom boots, is because I have very large feet but and EXTREMELY skinny calf. Like not even EXTRA slim fits my calf. So the only real reason why I need customs is because of that. And my mom also doesn’t want to pay that much money because she thinks my feet are going to grow. Even though they are already a size ten and haven’t grown in two years and i’m 15 years old. I’m only 5′6.
Thanks.

Try the Dehner Boot Company in Omaha Nebraska. http://www.dehner.com/ They have what they call "orphan" boots that were measured and not accepted for some reason; usually that the person measuring for them didn’t to a good job of it. They’re still not cheap, but full customs from anywhere I know of that are any good at all are at least $800. They haven’t gone up as much as almost anything else; my Dehner’s that I got 24 years ago were $600, and they are still going strong. I’ve had them resoled several times, but they are still the most comfortable boots I’ve ever owned!

An orphan boot might just fit you that they already have in the room (it’s impressive!) or they can put a different shaft on a boot that fits in the foot–that’s the hard part from a bootmaker’s standpoint-and as I recall those used to go for about half of what the full customs did.

You can call them or e-mail them; they are very nice folks!

is there anything safe i can clean my cowboy boots with?

i have a pair of leather cowboy boots that need some drastic cleaning.
=]

like, there is dirt caked on the to and sides.
i also have some of those tall english riding boots.

but my real question is, can i use the cleaning soap thingy that i use for my tall boots and use it on my cowboy boots?

sorry if i was confusing
=]

I have used the cleaner I use on my leather car seats to clean other leather items. I get it from Pep Boys ,etc. Mc Guire’s works fine for me, Also I’ve had fine results from a two-bottle leather cleaning kit from
Ikea. Just don’t use anything containing WATER!!
