What size bindings should I use?
Posted by admin
I’m riding a 151 burton custom and size 10 boots. But M size bindings say 8-10 boot size and L bindings are for 10+ so wtf? Should I just go with L to be safe?
It depends on the boot. For example, I wear a 32 women’s Lashed which has a very large profile shell. If I were in the same situation, I would go with the large binding b/c my boots shell is a little bigger then a standard Burton boot.
So, I would try to fit your particular boot into a med and a large binding. See which fits better. Hope that helps.

Where can i find boots?(western riding)?
Posted by admin
ok well i asked a question and everyone said buy boots with a heel, that are not fashion ones ,but my question is ,where am i supposed to get these boots,i dont have time order them online cuz my lesson is next weekend. and there is a cowboy/girl boots store in a mini mall but cowgirl/boy boots seem kinda embarrasing for my first lesson ,cuz she (my instucter ) never said do get any ,but i also havent talked to her myself (my mom has) my mom said i can wear tennis my first lesson but she doesnt know. well, where can i get boots from? ,payless?
i mean for western riding ,if you hadnt got that.
thanks in advance
but what are the proper ons?
i mean what are the "PROPPER BOOTS"
my question is just which ones to get ,but where to get them by next weekend. and what does ropper mean in ropper boots?
good proper fitting western boots are hard to find in a hurry.if you want good fitted boots go to "drewsboots.com" and look at their selection.they have the fitting guide and toe and heel guides so you know what to ask for when you buy your boots, but for now you need a good pair of sort heel’d shoes that wont let your foot slip through the sturrup.
edit;western boots have different uses for the heels and toes.starting with heels, roper heels have low heels usually 1 1/4 inch tall and not undercut also known as a wellington heel.roper toes are round and flat also known as a wr toe.western boots are like tack and saddles, each has a use and here in the west you can tell what part of the country a cowboy is from by his boots and hat also if he is a real cowboy or a drugstore cowboy.tall boots for brush riding, shorties for ranch work.ropers for walking(why walk when you can ride)underslung with spur ledges for riding long days.sharp toes for brush, round toes for arena’s.real cowboys are lost artists and everything they wear has a use.hats for sun and rain(also holds water for horses and putting out fire pits)bandanas for washing up,wiping dirt and sweat off and can be used as a bandage or dust mask.long sleeve button down shirts to cover the arms.vests to hold things(they have pockets)and keep you warm.tight pants keep saddle rashes down.chaps for brush and to keep rope burns off your pants.slickers for rain and keeps your saddle dry.but mostly boots have to be well fitting and keep your feet dry and are also used as brakes(when roping on the ground digging the heels in).doggin heels, roping heels, walking heels, underslungs and box heels all have a purpose and use but you would be better off with roper boots which can be found at western shops or feed stores and they are cheap and used for what you need them for.

What is the best brand of riding boot for showing on the ‘A’ circuit?

I have a pair of Ariat Heritage II field boots and I don’t like them. I want to go custom but not too expensive. I need something that can fit a shorter person with thin calves. I was thinking about Der-Dau field boots but I want to know what else is out there and what other people are wearing. Help, please.
I have heard very mixed reviews on Der-Dau’s - some people absolutely love them and others have had nothing but problems (mostly the foot wearing out or the leather wearing very thin on the inside of the calf). With that being said, you can go with an off-the-shelf boot from Der Dau (if it fits properly), semi-custom or full custom which I am not sure about options with other boots (something to look into).
If you are looking for customs, I would highly suggest Sergio Grasso - it is up there in price but they are absolutely fantastic boots. I haven’t heard anyone complain of anything on them as of yet.

I would also suggest Konigs as you can get them custom made. I haven’t heard of many complaints on these boots either.

There is also the Ariat Monaco’s which look lovely but I have heard of many people complain about the zippers constantly breaking. I find it’s a real hit and miss with the Ariat products these days.
Personally, I would probably go with the Sergio’s over the Konigs but that is just a personal preference. I haven’t had experience with either boot (I wish I could afford them!) though.
I personally have the Treadstone Tuscany field boot with I LOVE. I originally had the Ariat Challenge (pull ons) but they dropped much more than what I was told and looked stupid. I also had lost weight and my calf is much thinner than it was when I bought the boots. I originally wanted to get Sergio’s and was seriously looking into saving money for them but found the Treadstone Tuscany field boot (I searched it on a local bulletin board and many people have had them and absolutely loved them without any problems) and I happened to need something as quickly as possible. For $400 I really CANNOT complain - no break in time, no blisters and no drop!
You could also try looking at the Mountain Horse Supreme Field Boot although I believe they run quite tall and fairly slim.

good western riding boots?
Posted by admin
I’m trying to make horse back riding a regular activity (I don’t actually own a horse, but I know a place that rents them out), so I decided that it might be a good idea to have actual good riding boots. I’ve looked into it on various websites, but I really don’t know what I’m looking for, other than the very basic idea that I’ve gotten from seeing a few other people wearing them, and I’m afraid I’ll accidentally get something the looks showy but isn’t really convenient or something like that.
Could anyone give me an idea of what to be looking for, how they should fit (like snug fitting, or kind of loose, etc), and average prices? Pictures and/or where I can find something would be really great too.
You can’t go wrong with a pair of Justin boots.

Equestrian English Horse Boots?

Hi, I am an english riding and I was looking for some recommendations on horse boots. I am looking for an affordable pair of tall boots that I can use for my lessons and shows that will last a long time. Help?
i use the ariat heritage 2 zip field boots. my first pair held up for about 3 years. i was able to use them for lessons (i take 1 a week, sometimes ride twice) and also for showing. they’re also comfortable to walk around in if i’m just at the barn. they are about $260 dollars, but they were very worth it for me, and if you have a good place to take your boots should they not fit like they used to, they handle alterations very well. and the only reason i had to sell mine were because my calf got too big for them. the only thing is, ariat doesn’t have very large sizes. custom boots get into the $600’s but if you’re a size they carry, ariat’s a very good brand to buy.

Authentic Cowboy Boots?
Posted by admin
I’m going hunting in colorado on horseback this fall i want to get some good cowboy boots. not custom ade or anything but some boots a legit cowboy would wear in his day to day riding and cowboy activities also they must look pretty damn awesome with jeans for the rest of my city slicking life in Chicago. Please respond with respected makers styles specific models etc. Thanks
Just find a tack shop or boot shop and go and try some boots on, talk to the clerk and tell them what you are using them for. They will help pick the best boot for your horseback hunt trip.
