Where can i find boots?(western riding)?

ok well i asked a question and everyone said buy boots with a heel, that are not fashion ones ,but my question is ,where am i supposed to get these boots,i dont have time order them online cuz my lesson is next weekend. and there is a cowboy/girl boots store in a mini mall but cowgirl/boy boots seem kinda embarrasing for my first lesson ,cuz she (my instucter ) never said do get any ,but i also havent talked to her myself (my mom has) my mom said i can wear tennis my first lesson but she doesnt know. well, where can i get boots from? ,payless?

i mean for western riding ,if you hadnt got that.

thanks in advance
but what are the proper ons?
i mean what are the "PROPPER BOOTS"
my question is just which ones to get ,but where to get them by next weekend. and what does ropper mean in ropper boots?

good proper fitting western boots are hard to find in a hurry.if you want good fitted boots go to "drewsboots.com" and look at their selection.they have the fitting guide and toe and heel guides so you know what to ask for when you buy your boots, but for now you need a good pair of sort heel’d shoes that wont let your foot slip through the sturrup.
edit;western boots have different uses for the heels and toes.starting with heels, roper heels have low heels usually 1 1/4 inch tall and not undercut also known as a wellington heel.roper toes are round and flat also known as a wr toe.western boots are like tack and saddles, each has a use and here in the west you can tell what part of the country a cowboy is from by his boots and hat also if he is a real cowboy or a drugstore cowboy.tall boots for brush riding, shorties for ranch work.ropers for walking(why walk when you can ride)underslung with spur ledges for riding long days.sharp toes for brush, round toes for arena’s.real cowboys are lost artists and everything they wear has a use.hats for sun and rain(also holds water for horses and putting out fire pits)bandanas for washing up,wiping dirt and sweat off and can be used as a bandage or dust mask.long sleeve button down shirts to cover the arms.vests to hold things(they have pockets)and keep you warm.tight pants keep saddle rashes down.chaps for brush and to keep rope burns off your pants.slickers for rain and keeps your saddle dry.but mostly boots have to be well fitting and keep your feet dry and are also used as brakes(when roping on the ground digging the heels in).doggin heels, roping heels, walking heels, underslungs and box heels all have a purpose and use but you would be better off with roper boots which can be found at western shops or feed stores and they are cheap and used for what you need them for.

good western riding boots?

I’m trying to make horse back riding a regular activity (I don’t actually own a horse, but I know a place that rents them out), so I decided that it might be a good idea to have actual good riding boots. I’ve looked into it on various websites, but I really don’t know what I’m looking for, other than the very basic idea that I’ve gotten from seeing a few other people wearing them, and I’m afraid I’ll accidentally get something the looks showy but isn’t really convenient or something like that.

Could anyone give me an idea of what to be looking for, how they should fit (like snug fitting, or kind of loose, etc), and average prices? Pictures and/or where I can find something would be really great too.

You can’t go wrong with a pair of Justin boots.

??????What is the best Western riding boots???

Ok, so, my neighbors dog walked into my garage, grabbed my ariats and devoured the insides of them. So, because of my neighbor’s lack of control over his animals, I need new boots. I trail ride a lot, but I am going to start gaming soon. I’m not much for the flashy or gaudy, I just want a pair of high quality boots that will keep my feet warm and dry. Do you know a brand or a specific boot that would be fitting? THANKS!

Well, I ride English and Western but I ride in Ariat paddock boots and LOVE them. I know Ariat makes Western boots too. So, I would say Ariats.
Here is the link to their Western boots. This is the page with the categories and if you click a specific one it will show you all of the boots in that section.

That’s unfortunate about your old boots. I know I’m really attached to my current boots! haha
I hope you find a pair that you like.

Oh, and I’d love it if you could help me with my question. It’s pretty much just an opinion on horses. Thanks. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AsUzd0skVCKM16AgfFenTrzsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20091209183045AAIURKn

How tall should a Western Riding Boot be?

I am just getting in to Western Riding, and I need cowboy boots.

These boots have a 2.5 in heel. Are they too tall to riding? Thank you :)
it depends on how tall you are but if you are from 5′6" to 6′0" then 2.5 should be good.

cowboy boots&& western riding?

is it weird to wear cowboy boots riding english? and are there reasons to wearing english boots instead of western ones?

also- is it hard to learn to ride western?

Most western boots you will find are not much different than english boots as far as their functionality for riding. Western riding boots on the other hand are traditionally a tall heel (3-4 inch heel) built for riding with a wide boot jacket so that if for some reason you blow your stirrup you foot will come out easily.

To learn to ride western is no different that learning to ride english. They both have little nuances that is unique to the style. Although western riding is based around working in the saddle all day (there is a reason its called western…as in cowboy’s working cattle) so your set in the saddle is a more relaxed position.

Many people confuse trail riding with western. This is not true. Western events are based on work that still happens on working cattle ranches.

what is the largest size heel you can have on a western riding boot?

For Christmas my mom wants me to send her a link of things that I want and I found the boot, but it has a 2 inch heel and I was wondering if that was just dress western boots or if I am still able to ride in them.
here is the link

Thanks in advance!

You COULD ride in them but they are dress boots. It would probably be uncomfortable and the leather doesn’t look like it would wear well.
